The Importance of Minerals in Hydration
In today's world, finding pure mineral-rich water is a challenge. However, it's crucial to pay attention to our mineral intake, especially when it comes to hydration. Interestingly, there is a connection between thirst and electrolyte deficiencies. Many individuals wonder why they feel dehydrated and thirsty despite drinking ample water. The truth is, thirst can indicate a lack of electrolytes in...

I’ve been really pimping out my electrolyte recipe lately and when people finally start using it they tend to like how it gives them a bit of a boost/lift.
The fluid and electrolyte system, itself, in the body is dynamic and very difficult to measure. But we do know it depends on access to minerals dissolved in water and proper cellular absorption of those minerals making them bioavailable.
Listen to episode #126 : Are your minerals getting inside your cells? - Find: A Joy To Be Me - On: iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher or Spotify
One of the most important functions of electrolytes is to enhance cellular hydration. To most people, hydration just means there is enough water in the body but the real key is to get the water into the cells and make it stay there to perform its biological functions.
Most people tell me: “I didn’t know I needed anything other than water to be hydrated...

In this episode, I share a little recap of my weekend foraging and full moon gathering adventures. We walked a labyrinth which is for brain balancing and had a mini tuning session before we entered. I also learned why you don't want to sleep with your head facing north.

Just a year ago I was not connected to a supportive tribe - I think many of us can relate to how these past couple years have shaken up our lives in many ways : finding our true tribe one of such ways. I’m so grateful because I set an intention after my podcast with Tommy John to find my soul tribe and here I am a year later enjoying the reality of that intention.
Now that the weather is glorious here in the northeast we can really power up from nature - and I want to talk briefly about how we work within nature first then...

In this episode, I'm going back to one of the fundamentals of mineral balancing for overall health and covering MAGNESIUM.
Listen to episode #113 : Assessing Magnesium Deficiency - Find: A Joy To Be Me - ON: iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher or Spotify
I've talked about it many times on the podcast in the past but I'm always having the same conversation over and over with new people coming in. So I figured it was time to revisit an approach to magnesium, so more people can be more thorough in their approach with a better comprehension. PLUS, I share a 31 question assessment to help you gauge where you are at on the magnesium deficiency scale. Be ready to jot your answers down.
I also shared how to approach getting adequate magnesium with a LOT of caveats -you are gonna want to tune and hear.

Magnesium the miracle mineral could only possible have good intentions and affects, right? While magnesium is an imperative mineral good for human health, sometimes the body is not quite ready to receive it in the way we give it.
Listen to episode #98: When Magnesium makes you worse (IMPORTANT MESSAGE) : Find on: iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher or Spotify
In this episode, I dig into what you need to consider if you've tried magnesium and it made you feel worse instead of better. Trust me, you're gonna love this episode. Buckle up because this episode is fueled by my firey side (and lots of LOVE)!
So many people come to the mineral banquet and just assume they can dive right in to their hearts content (metaphorically speaking), yet often times there is a lot going on in their system that could make it not go down so smoothly.
I start the episode with a REFRAME we all need to hear whether we are dealing with magnesium backfiring or not.
I also referenced plenty...
There is a bit of a hierarchy when it comes to minerals - we have our macro minerals and the main two most of us know are calcium and magnesium. This mineral pair really cannot be separated and requires the OPPOSITE balance we've been taught. We really need a higher magnesium and lower calcium consumption for optimal energy and health.
Listen to episode #86: Why we need high magnesium and low calcium : Find A Joy To Be Me on iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher or Spotify
In this episode, I dig into this a bit more and help you understand how to look at these two minerals in light of our modern diet. Make sure you are looking at these two closely in your diet so you can make to avoid the problems of calcification.

In this episode, I'm talking about the health of your kidneys. Most of us take our kidneys for granted every single day. We don't really think about them until one day something goes wrong, like kidney stones for example. It's important to know in advance that the kidneys need minerals, not medication.
Listen to Episode #79: Kidneys Need Minerals, Not Medication : Find A Joy To Be Me on iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher or Spotify
The kidneys maintain mineral and healthy fluid balance.
But you've got to give them the raw ingredients to work with so they don't struggle to do their job.
Kidneys need hydration to be ON POINT.
True hydration is water plus minerals
Dehydration concentrates calcium and other minerals in the urine.
Water follows salt. Salt has to be ON POINT.
Real salt consumed for your daily functioning needs.
Magnesium has to be ON POINT.
The kidney has a vital role in magnesium homeostasis, deficiency (which is common)causes them to struggle
A potassium rich diet...
In this episode, I shared some insights after being on a quick getaway to Ithaca New York. (By the way, have you ever been?)
I referenced a past podcast with Amy Love; 'Pleasure is the way out of burnout' and talked about what it takes to live a turned on life in the modern day (it may not be what you think).
Listen to Episode #68: Living a turned on life : Find A Joy To Be Me on iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher or Spotify
My micro semi-local getaway was very intentional to be able to connect more deeply with nature (in a new place) and with my man. We both needed to change things up.
The thing is that nature therapy isn't just a nice to have, it's a need to have. Humans are designed to thrive in a more natural environment and setting. It support cognitive function, physical health and psychological well-being. The further you get away from nature the more lost you become.
While we were away, I was able to take a break from my work routine which is always...
Hydration, a super basic habit we all need to employ so we can enjoy vibrant health. The first sign of dehydration is fatigue. And no, I'm not talking about just plain water.
Please go check out my podcast episode where I might have ranted a bit about proper hydration in a persuasive yet big picture overview way like I tend to do.
It's episode #34; 'The Essential Habit You Need To Increase Energy' and you can listen HERE.
Summer time is often when most people start to pay more attention to their hydration, because the sun and heat take it out of you. The problem is, most people are not getting sufficient minerals (electrolytes) to deeply hydrated cells, tissues and organs.
So, I decided to make it super easy for you and created a homemade electrolyte recipe that is a replacement for Gatorade. We all know about Gatorade, right? We don't want the artificial colorings, preservatives, sugars and poor mineral forms from Gatorade. So, it's best to make our own. It's also...
